History

Moran's Art Studio Inc. was established in 1996 by owner Christopher Moran. The studio produces fine art paintings, murals, sculpture, restorations and interior renovations. Chris has studied and worked with many great artisans of our day. In Ortisei Val Gardena, Italy, he acquired the old world techniques of the Italian masters on how to restore and paint sculptures, statues, and religious art pieces. This region of Italy has been known for over 500 years for their great religious wood carvings and painting techniques. These techniques were passed from generation to generation. In Florence, Italy, he had the honor to study and work with Ms. Roberta Lapucci, a leading conservation artist and project coordinator for Italy. Chris obtained the techniques and the process to completely restore a painting and three dimensional art pieces. Chris worked on several restorations while in Italy ranging from the 1400's to the 1800's. He has developed many new techniques with the knowledge of the old masters combined with today's technology and materials. In Florence, Italy, he also created classical sculpture under Mr. Dario Arcamone.

Moran's Art Studio specializes in church interior design and complete renovation. Chris is associated with many talented artisans and a variety of specialty companies that assist him in large projects, such as interior church renovation. This approach has allowed him to be very competitive and also allows him to utilize some of the best talent available in various fields. This has resulted in cost savings to our clients while keeping the quality at a high standard. Once a design has been approved, Chris coordinate every aspect of the project from meeting with church leaders, to directing his associates to ensure quality to completion.

With Chris' knowledge and talent for restoration, he has restored to original condition more than two thousand statues, altars, paintings, and art pieces for churches throughout the United States and Italy. In addition to restorations, he and his associates have created many original paintings, murals, sculptures and reproduced replications of the old master's works.

Chris' formal education was at Kendall School of Design of Grand Rapids, and The Center for Creative Studies of Detroit. While attending Kendal, he received many top awards for his art and was published in the school's promotional book as one of their most talented artists.

At 19, Chris was the youngest competitor to enter the Jesse Besser Museum's juried art show, where he won second place. The following year, he had his first one man art show. Chris has been featured in many publications for his art, from magazines to newspapers and TV news coverage.

Chris started Moran's Art Studio, Inc. to combine his love of God, passion for art history, the human form, and artistic talent in preserving and creating art for sacred places.
